Rail Commercial Manager: Systems
Overview:
The Commercial Manager: Systems is responsible for overseeing the commercial, administrative, and contractual management of subcontractors involved in system integration. This includes key systems such as substation, traction power, third rail, signaling, telecommunications, SCADA, and track.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the legal authority for managing system integration subcontracts.
- Provide support to the Lead System Integrator in administering system-related contracts, including drafting letters, analyzing claims, managing change orders, and verifying invoices.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced and demanding work setting.
- Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring operational efficiency, and complying with safety standards on construction sites.
- On-site work requires wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent walking and standing in both office and site environments.
- Occasional climbing on/off equipment and bending for inspections.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration with major subcontractors; 10 years preferred.
- Strong background in system integration and design-build projects.
- Expertise in highway systems.
- Advanced degree in Law or a Master's in Civil Engineering.
- Proven experience collaborating with executive leadership; excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
- Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of broader business contexts.
- Ability to thrive in multicultural environments.
- Prior experience on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects is essential.
- Fluent in English with professional-level proficiency.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
