Position Overview
The firm is seeking a Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead and expand its structural engineering team based in Cincinnati, OH. This leader will oversee department operations, guide technical execution, support staffing and resource planning, and strengthen client relationships by delivering exceptional engineering solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong structural design expertise along with proven people and project leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a structural department consisting of engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Oversee deliverables for industrial and commercial projects involving steel, concrete, foundations, buildings, and equipment structures.
- Provide technical direction, quality assurance, and mentorship to team members.
- Partner with project managers and discipline leads to ensure successful project delivery, on time and on budget.
- Support staffing plans, resource allocation, and the professional development of team members.
- Maintain high standards, best practices, and department procedures.
- Build lasting client relationships through effective communication and technical leadership.
- Participate in business development, proposal preparation, and project estimating.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience in structural engineering management or leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of design codes such as AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
- Background working on industrial projects in sectors such as manufacturing, chemical, or pulp and paper.
- Proficiency with structural design software (STAAD, RISA, RAM, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Compensation & Benefits
The firm offers a competitive base salary between $140,000 - $190,000 aligned with the seniority of the role, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that typically includes:
