Mechanical Estimator
The Role
As Mechanical Estimator, you will play a critical role in preconstruction, developing accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates for complex mechanical systems. You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, and leadership to position the business to win and deliver successful projects.
This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects, including healthcare facilities, data centers, and industrial environments, where precision and planning are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC and piping systems
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate take-offs
- Collaborate with preconstruction and operations teams to develop winning bid strategies
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Support value engineering efforts to optimize cost and constructability
- Develop budgets, conceptual estimates, and GMP pricing as required
- Identify risks, opportunities, and scope gaps within tender documents
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Assist in handover from estimating to project delivery teams
About You
- Proven experience in mechanical estimating within HVAC construction
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including hydronic piping, HVAC equipment, and fabrication processes
- Experience estimating projects in healthcare, mission critical, or industrial sectors (preferred)
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
