Project Manager - Mission Critical Construction (Data Centers)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale, mission-critical construction projects in the Phoenix market. This role will oversee a single high-value project (approximately $40 million) and be fully site-based, ensuring successful project delivery with a strong focus on speed to market and operational readiness for end users.

Reporting directly to a Construction Director, this position plays a critical role in driving complex data center builds with a heavy emphasis on mechanical systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle delivery of a $40M+ construction project from site
  • Manage daily on-site operations in collaboration with key Superintendents
  • Oversee mechanical scopes, including HVAC systems and mechanical piping for critical equipment
  • Ensure projects meet aggressive timelines and "speed to market" expectations
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to support mission-critical commissioning and readiness
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, logs, and reporting
  • Track project progress, costs, and schedules using MS Project and Excel
  • Utilize Bluebeam for document management and coordination
  • Maintain strong communication across subcontractors, field teams, and leadership
  • Ensure compliance with union labor requirements and standards

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 7 - 10+ years of construction project management experience (more senior profiles also considered)
  • Strong background in mission-critical environments, preferably data centers
  • Experience managing large-scale projects ($30M+ range preferred)
  • Mechanical/HVAC expertise strongly preferred; electrical backgrounds also considered
  • Experience working with union labor environments preferred
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, MS Project, and Excel
  • Strong understanding of RFIs, project tracking, and documentation processes
  • Experience working with or alongside General Contractors or specialist contractors

Additional Backgrounds Considered

  • Candidates transitioning from Electrical Contractors or General Contractors
  • Assistant Project Managers / Project Engineers with strong foundational skills
  • Professionals with fire protection, controls, or sprinkler system experience
  • Mechanically or electrically inclined candidates open to expanding their discipline knowledge

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 (depending on experience)
  • Vehicle allowance
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage (employee + family)
  • 401(k) with up to 4% match
  • Paid Time Off:
    • 2 weeks vacation
