A growing consulting firm is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join its team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule and the opportunity to lead field survey operations supporting infrastructure, land development, and environmental projects.
Position Overview
The Survey Crew Chief will oversee field survey teams and manage the execution of various survey types including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking. The role requires strong technical skills, leadership experience, and the ability to work independently in dynamic environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead field crews in conducting surveys using GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
- Collect and record accurate field data for use in engineering and construction projects.
- Prepare and review survey maps, reports, and documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers and technical staff to meet project goals.
- Train and mentor junior survey technicians.
- Maintain and calibrate survey equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and field protocols.
- Travel and overnight stays may be required based on project needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in surveying preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with surveying standards and construction practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass required screenings.
- Strong organizational, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.
