The Opportunity
You will be responsible for leading and expanding the commercial plumbing division, overseeing projects from pre-construction through to completion. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and strong leadership capability, with a focus on delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall performance and day-to-day operations of the plumbing division
- Oversee project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control
- Prepare and manage estimates, tenders, and project financials
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers
- Collaborate with design teams to resolve technical and construction challenges
- Monitor project progress and ensure profitability targets are achieved
- Drive business development through existing relationships and new opportunities
- Implement and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and consistency
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Represent the business at job sites, meetings, and industry events
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers and field personnel
- Foster a positive, high-performing, and accountable team environment
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development planning
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning initiatives
- Promote clear and effective communication across teams and departments
- Work closely with senior leadership on division strategy and growth plans
- Take ownership of financial performance, including revenue, margins, and pipeline
- Track labour, materials, and project costs against targets
- Lead regular project reviews and financial performance meetings
- Stay up to date with market trends and identify opportunities for expansion
Requirements
- Master Plumber's License
- 10+ years of experience in commercial plumbing, ideally within new construction
- Strong technical understanding of codes, drawings, and specifications
- Proven experience in estimating, project management, and subcontractor coordination
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate autonomously and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore) is beneficial
- Valid driver's licence
