Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Works Inspector / Construction Manager to oversee and manage infrastructure and construction projects in the Sacramento region. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction oversight, quality assurance, and project delivery, with a proven ability to coordinate with contractors, clients, and stakeholders. This role is ideal for professionals with a PMP or CCM certification who are passionate about delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and public/private stakeholders to resolve field issues.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress; prepare daily inspection reports and documentation.
  • Conduct field inspections, materials testing verification, and quality control reviews.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Caltrans or local agency standards.
  • Lead or support project meetings, including pre-construction and progress meetings.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior inspectors or field staff (for Construction Manager roles).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction inspection or construction management.
  • Experience with transportation, public works, or construction projects in California.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and reporting software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • CCM (Certified Construction Manager)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Caltrans, local municipalities, or utility coordination.
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage compliance and labor compliance documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
