The Director of Instrumentation & Controls Engineering is responsible for the design of Instrumentation and Controls engineering in various degrees of complexity. Supervises and performs all phases of the design.
Essential Functions
- Work directly with Client to establish design criteria working from BFD's to PFD's to P&ID's.
- Write project specifications, equipment and instrument data sheets.
- Assure project compliance with Electrical Code (NEC and UL).
- Perform design calculations, equipment selections, panel design, HMI customisation, and review calculations performed by project designer.
- Perform existing system and equipment evaluations.
- Coordinate with Process Engineer and establish parameters for automation. Write Process Description and Functional Requirement specification.
- Actively work with and supervise other staff to perform different tasks at the same time while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Mentor junior designers to develop them into experienced engineers.
- Produce proposals and make effective presentations.
- Actively manage Client and Contractor relationships.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to meet the project goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Registered PE in at least one state
- 10+ year's experience in design, construction and management of project teams and staff
- Expertise in preparation of construction documents on a series of large, technically sophisticated projects;
- Knowledge of Engineering calculations and equipment selection programs
- Demonstrated ability in control systems (Delta V, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- Understanding of Instrumentation and Controls
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit
