As an Electrical Engineer for an offshore wind developer, you will play a critical role in the design and implementation of electrical systems. You will work in a dynamic and challenging environment to help harness the power of renewable energy while ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design: Collaborate with the engineering team to design electrical systems for offshore wind turbines, substations, and related infrastructure. This includes power distribution, control systems, and safety measures.
Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed electrical engineering documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and technical reports. Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and regulations.
Compliance and Regulations: Stay current with offshore wind industry regulations, codes, and standards related to electrical systems. Ensure project compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Equipment Procurement: Participate in the selection and procurement of electrical equipment and components. Evaluate vendors and suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of electrical materials.
Testing and Commissioning: Coordinate and oversee electrical system testing, commissioning, and startup activities. Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical issues that may arise during these phases.
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies for electrical systems to ensure the safety and reliability of the offshore wind project.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical and structural engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems within the project.
Maintenance and Reliability: Develop maintenance plans and procedures for electrical equipment to maximize uptime and performance. Address any electrical system failures or faults promptly.
Data Analysis: Analyze performance data and monitor the health of electrical systems using condition monitoring tools and data analytics. Recommend and implement improvements based on data insights.
HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment): Prioritize and promote a strong safety culture by following HSE guidelines, conducting safety assessments, and participating in safety training programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably in offshore wind or a related industry.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electrical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Project management skills and experience are a plus.
