The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing all personnel and processes in the Engineering department and to maintain all contractual and internal deliverables. Direct reports will include mechanical designers, electrical/controls engineers, checker(s), and co-ops.
Responsibilities:
* Responsibility for hiring, firing, performance reviews, and time management of all direct reports
* Attend and contribute to company management meetings
* Represent company in customer meetings, especially meetings with senior customer personnel
* Assist in mitigating project risk through proper documentation, direct negotiation with customers and vendors, improving quality of engineering deliverables, and collaborating with internal management
* Responsible for continuous improvement of engineering processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and meet or exceed project budgets and schedules
* Responsible for satisfying customer expectations for all engineering related deliverables and activities
* Manage sub-contracting of outside engineering disciplines when required to meet project objectives
* Manage day-to-day activities of Engineering Department
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; and minimum of 10 years work experience in an industrial engineering or manufacturing environment
* Previous management experience with direct reports
* Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
* Experience negotiating with customers and vendors to resolve disputes
* Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
* Experience with process and mechanical design of industrial equipment. Pollution control equipment experience a plus.
* Familiarity with the design of tanks in metal and/or plastic, piping and plumbing systems, structural steel, conveyors, motors, or instrumentation preferred
* Knowledge of air handling systems and/or water treatment technologies: industrial processes which generate water and air pollution, water pollutants and properties (metals, suspended solids, dissolved solids, oils, etc.), pumps, maintenance, curves, and hydraulic principles/laws, air pollutants and properties (acid gases, alcohols, oils, VOCs, PM, mist, etc.), fan curves and laws - pressure, velocity, horsepower, and airflow
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and industry codes and standards required. Solidworks or other 3D CAD software knowledge a plus
* Ability to read engineered drawings, prints, and specs
