Overview: The Engineering Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Manager of Engineering to support the development, design, and construction of new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects. Acting as the technical lead, this role is responsible for evaluating the feasibility and overall technical viability of RNG projects. Additionally, the Engineering Project Manager will lead the preparation of engineering proposals, manage stakeholder relationships, and oversee the successful execution of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the technical feasibility of potential RNG projects in collaboration with business development and M&A teams, including gas production, capital (capex) and operational (opex) estimates, and Carbon Intensity (CI) scores.
- Coordinate design and project milestone deliverables with both internal resources and external sub-consultants.
- Oversee the preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs with the assistance of third-party consultants.
- Collaborate with Business Development, internal engineering teams, and third-party consultants to develop major equipment plans and long-lead procurement strategies.
- Partner with the Financial Planning team to create and manage project budgets covering design, engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules for all phases including design, engineering, permitting, construction, and commissioning.
- Work with the Senior Manager of Engineering and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) teams to manage construction activities, including subcontractor oversight, quality control (QA/QC), commissioning, and facility startup.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to ensure all project metrics (capex, opex, gas production, CI score, etc.) are accurately reflected in financial models.
- Prepare carbon intensity models for RNG projects, with the support of external consultants when required.
- Lead and coordinate utility interconnection processes.
- Support Business Development in advancing RNG projects and contribute to the negotiation and development of project agreements (e.g., consulting, permitting, EPC contracts).
- Lead and motivate internal teams, contractors, and third-party vendors to take accountability for their tasks, ensuring project success.
- Provide timely project updates to stakeholders and executive team members, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Oversee project reports and internal documentation, ensuring alignment with executive expectations
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the renewable natural gas industry, or equivalent experience in project management.
- Proficiency in Carbon Intensity (CI) modeling.
- Strong project management or project development experience.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, project schedules, and other technical documentation.
- Extensive knowledge of RNG project components and systems.
