We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) to lead and oversee all technical and supply chain aspects of solar projects in the development phase. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects through robust engineering solutions while optimizing costs and adhering to safety standards. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, expertise in local subcontractor management, and a strong grasp of project economics within the solar industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical and supply chain aspects of solar project development, ensuring the delivery of robust engineering solutions at the lowest possible cost.
- Cultivate relationships with local subcontractors, employing negotiation tactics to drive cost reductions and optimize project economics.
- Provide technical support to the business development team, contributing solutions to enhance energy cost reduction while prioritizing safety-by-design principles.
- Supervise technical studies conducted by consultants and review engineering designs submitted by contractors to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Oversee the preparation of procurement documentation and take the lead in conducting technical evaluations of suppliers.
- Effectively manage and control project budgets and costs, ensuring fiscal responsibility throughout all phases of development.
- Collaborate closely with the business development team to spearhead the expansion of the solar market in Taiwan.
- Identify and evaluate technical and economic risks associated with projects, actively participating in the development and implementation of risk management plans.
- Serve as a safety leader and role model, consistently promoting and exemplifying a strong safety culture in all aspects of the role.
- Stay abreast of the latest engineering and industrial best practices, fostering alignment with shareholders and ensuring compliance with the most current guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of proven experience in solar project development, EPC management, or a similar role within the renewable energy sector.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage local subcontractors and drive cost reductions.
- In-depth knowledge of solar energy systems, engineering principles, and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in technical evaluation and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience in budget management and cost control for large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Requires to speak Mandarin in order to communicate with local technicians, engineers, and contractors.
