I am currently working with one of the leading Solar, Wind and Battery Storage IPP's in the US. They currently already have about 3.5 GW of solar with another 4.5GW in their project pipeline already! They are looking to increase their operating portfolio to 15GW in the next 4 years. In order to keep up with that growth, they need to hire some additional Managers of Operations.
Manager of Operations Responsibilities:
- Continuously improve and oversee the integration of new projects to the Portfolio.
- Manage a team of 9+ people initially, consisting of Control Center Operations, Lead Operators, and Project Integration Managers
- Ensuring that the site is compliant with NERC reliability standards and anything to do with compliance support
- Coordinate with SCADA engineers to advise them on SCADA alarming, SCADA points, and control schemes
- Implement and develop abnormal plant controls and testing procedures that are compliant with NERC
- Oversee the operations change management program and work with various groups internally to better understand, document and implement plant changes
Desired Skills and Competencies for Manager of Operations:
- Strong organizational, communication, decision making, analytic and time management skills
- Prior experience with the management and operation of utility scale solar, wind and battery storage systems
- Familiar with various relay schemes for grid/equipment protection
- Deep understanding of how to effectively operate utility-scale renewable projects
- Working knowledge of SCADA
Qualifications for Manager of Operations:
- B.S. in Engineering or similar field
- 10+years in control room/power plant
- With exposure to:
- Gird Operations
- Performance management of renewable assets
- NERC compliance
- Power Plant Controls
- Engineering or design of SCADA
- Dispatching assets
- Minimum of 5 years managing 5 or more direct reports
