LVI Associates is looking for an experienced Building Enclosure Consultant to help out a client in San Diego. This Architect would have the chance to work on a variety of porjects including single family homes, multi-family buildings, higher education buildings, government buildings and high rises.
Job Description
- Review and redline project architectural drawings and specifications to assist the design team in developing a complete and constructible set of project specifications and details related to the building enclosure.
- Assist clients and designers in developing innovative and realistic solutions to building enclosure related issues on new and existing projects.
- Prepare details and specifications for various project types.
- Review shop drawings, RFI's, and submittals.
- Prepare agendas and conduct or attend preconstruction meetings.
- Conduct on-site quality assurance observations and prepare daily reports.
- Perform water testing in accordance with ASTM E1105.
- Perform building enclosure evaluations to assist clients in developing solutions to pre-existing conditions involving water intrusion through the roof, exterior wall systems, deck, and below-grade waterproofing systems.
- Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships
Qualifications
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering from an accredited school required.
- 5 - 10 years of related experience.
- Proficient in Bluebeam, Excel, MW Word, and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of building enclosure systems. Areas should include below-grade waterproofing, horizontal waterproofing systems including balcony decks, patios, corridors, plaza and podium decks, exterior wall systems, windows, doors, and roof systems.
- Familiar with residential and commercial construction and working drawings, as well as general construction details and processes.
- The ability to create design details for architectural plans.
- Flexibility to focus on multiple projects in various stages of design and construction.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on assignments and work as a team.
- Ability to perform activities on a project site, including but not limited to climbing ladders, walking on roofs, working on scaffolding at varying heights, and entering confined spaces.
- A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent written + verbal communication and client relationship management skills.

- Ability to handle difficult situations and maintain professionalism.
- Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
- Must possess a current, valid driver's license and auto liability insurance as required by state law. Driving record must meet criteria for Company's insurance carrier to add as a driver on Company policy.
