This firm is hiring a Transportation Project Manager (PM) to lead our Highways team in Virginia Beach, VA! As a leader of our transportation team you will provide a wide variety of transportation/highway planning and engineering tasks. Including but not limited to: developing/analyzing alternative solutions; overseeing talented and professional staff, and leading highway planning and/or design projects. As a PM you must have a clear understanding of AASHTO, state and local design criteria. Coordination with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff will be required.
Essential Functions
- Lead and contribute design expertise on transportation planning and design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Review and certify engineering documents to meet quality control goals and standards of care
- Lead and mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and/or design task
- Manage prime and sub-contractor projects and teams
- Serve as lead engineer/designer as needed
- Understand Highway Design Standards, and other highway design manuals and guidelines
- Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates is a plus
- Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
- Direct project staff and sub-consultants
- Serve as liaison between client and firm
- Actively contribute to the growth and overall success of the Virginia Beach operations by assisting with recruitment of staff and business development activities
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Ten (10) - Fifteen (15) years of experience in civil engineering design and/or transportation/highway engineering
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Professional Engineering Registration (PE) in the State of Virginia
- Experience working on and marketing VDOT projects
- Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Skills:
- Alternative project delivery experience is a plus
- Planning, Schematics experience is a plus
- A Master's degree in engineering or related fields and PTOE certification are desirable, but not required
