A leading heavy civil construction company in San Diego, California, is looking for an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating construction projects for public and private clients in the heavy civil sector.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review estimates for public and private heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, grading, paving, utilities, and concrete structures.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and prepare accurate estimates.
- Identify potential project risks and opportunities and provide suggestions for cost savings.
- Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors and perform cost analysis to ensure the best value for the project.
- Present and explain the estimate to the project team and clients.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy civil estimator, with a track record of successful projects bid and won
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with large diameter pipe is a plus
- Experience working on Caltrans and other public agency projects is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools, as well as local and state construction regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software, such as HeavyBid or HCSS.
