Successful candidates will be expected to evaluate the cause of failure, extent of damage, and options for repair in a variety of mechanical systems and construction-related circumstances, including building envelope evaluations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Determine the scope of repair and evaluate repair options
- Determine the cause of failure of mechanical components and systems
- Evaluate the cause and extent of damage following storms, natural disasters, accidents, and fires/explosions
- Effectively communicate opinions in writing and verbally, and sometimes as testimony
- Effectively and patiently communicate technical matters to laypersons and attorneys
QUALIFICATIONS
- Project management or supervisory experience desired
- Proficiency in other mechanical engineering branches such as HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, vehicles and hydraulics is highly desired
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients and employees at all levels of the organization
- Strong organisational, analytical, and time management skills with attention to detail and a high quality of work in a dynamic environment
- Strong project management, data interpretation, and technical writing skills
- Ability to travel and support project needs both in and out of state
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university/college
- 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, required; 8 plus preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), required
- ACTAR certification and/or accident reconstruction experience a plus
- C.F.I. or C.F.E.I. a plus
