One of the leading Renewable Energy System Integrators involved in Solar and Battery Storage is currently looking for a Senior Manager of Release Management and will be responsible for managing and running the team as a whole. This team is responsible for managing a number of software releases in addition to maintaining a real-time view on release progress and its quality. The Release Manager will be responsible for all deliveries that make up a release which includes: software, documentation and executions. The Release Manager will own release life-cycle which will include: scheduling, coordination, and management of releases.
The releases will be inclusive of: Energy Storage applications, on prem and cloud (hybrid cloud) applications, OS patches and security improvements. This position will require hands on attention to ensure that the correct set of tests are in place to verify quality.
Senior Manager - Release Management Primary Job Functions:
- Release processes for product development, test, and production environments
- This person will manage a team of Scrum Masters, Release Managers, and Technical Writers
- Create reports for setting yearly goals and assessing progress on specific goals
- Have a strong understanding of the software quality for all of their software releases both past and present
- Work alongside Product Management and System Engineering to build a release plan/schedule
- Oversee both local and remote team members which will include near-shore and off-shore team members
- Regular reports for release progress and risks to the executive team
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies
- Experience with task management tools such as Atlassian Jira
- Ability to pin point up front risks and build out risk mitigation plans
- Stay up to date on resource allocation and the ability to articulate trade-offs when needed
- Conduct release readiness reviews
- Continuously look to improve the release process
Senior Manager - Release Management Preferred Experience:
- Software background in Development, Test or Product Support
- Experience with planning in Jira
- Experience with following agile methodologies
- Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
Senior Manager - Release Management Nice to Haves:
- Jira administrative experience
- Scrum master certification
- Experience with GIT
- Experience with software development languages such as Python, GoLang or JavaScript
- Experience with building Jira dashboards around quality and progress metrics
Senior Manager - Release Management Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in product development in some capacity (release management, development, test, architecture, etc...)
- 5+ years managing a team of both local and remote team members
- Agile, able to handle rapidly changing requirements
