Summary:
A national cutting-edge engineering firm is seeking a highly qualified individual for a substation engineering position. As a member of their team, you will be responsible for performing detailed physical engineering design on substation projects, leading complex projects through all phases, conducting studies and calculations, producing design drawings, and participating in site visits and meetings. Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Design: Perform detailed physical engineering design on substation projects.
- Project Leadership: Lead complex projects from initial estimating and proposals to detailed design, equipment procurement, construction bidding, commissioning, and construction support.
- Studies and Calculations: Conduct various studies and calculations related to substation design, including grounding calculations, lightning protection calculations, battery bank sizing calculations, conduit fill calculations, and substation sizing calculations. Perform AC & DC substation studies.
- Design Drawings: Review and produce physical design drawings, including General Arrangement, Elevations, equipment connection Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control Building Layout and Details, Foundation Plan and Details. Develop material lists.
- Site Visits and Meetings: Conduct periodic site visits and walkthroughs, participate in estimating, and attend scoping meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer Registration: Registered as a Professional Engineer by examination.
- Experience: 6-10 years of substation engineering experience, preferably at an engineering consulting firm.
