Position Overview:
You will assess, analyze, and design repairs for residential. parking garages, sidewalk vaults, plazas, and other existing buildings structures. Structural systems will vary between concrete (conventional/post-tensioned), steel, masonry, heavy timber, and glass.
Responsibilities:
- Review of original documentation and structural drawings.
- Perform visual/hands-on assessments, condition assessments and investigations to document the existing condition and extent of distress or deterioration.
- Coordinate destructive or nondestructive material testing with a testing firm subconsultant.
- Prepare written technical reports which summarize your field observations, conclusions, recommendations, and engineer's opinion of cost.
- Perform construction administration services including project management, field construction observation, project meeting attendance meetings, RFI response, submittal review, and written field reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in structural/civil/architectural engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience and interest in evaluation and repair of existing structures.
- EIT License Preferred
- Strong technical communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experience or interest in structural analysis, computer modeling.
- Proficient ability in AutoCAD or Revit.
Geographic Area of Responsibility:
- Local travel around Chicago
WFH Policy:
- Hybrid: 1-2 Days in the office based on site visits/inspections.
