Job Title: Vice President, Solar & Storage Construction
Location: Hybrid (Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; REMOTE)
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Solar & Storage Construction to establish and execute the strategic direction for Distributed Generation (DG) and Utility-Scale (US) solar and storage projects. The VP will leverage technical expertise, innovative solutions, and strong stakeholder relationships to drive project execution nationwide. This role will oversee construction teams across various regions, ensuring successful project delivery while achieving performance, revenue, and margin goals.
The ideal candidate will possess a balance of technical acumen, leadership capabilities, financial insight, and a collaborative mindset to lead the company in becoming an industry leader in solar and storage construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic goals for the construction team that align with the company's national objectives, ensuring the successful delivery of project milestones like Permission to Operate (PTO), Substantial Completion (SC), and achieving revenue and margin targets.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure smooth transitions from project pre-deployment to deployment, including approval of project pricing and cost estimation.
- Build, lead, and mentor a construction team focused on results, innovation, and agility, fostering a best-in-class mindset.
- Work closely with internal teams such as Capital Markets, Policy, Legal, Development, Grid Integration, Engineering, and Supply Chain to facilitate solar and storage construction nationwide.
- Manage construction-related risks, including contract negotiations, workforce compliance, budget reconciliation, and preparing competitive and non-competitive budgets.
- Cultivate strong relationships with contractors, regulatory bodies, and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead safety efforts to ensure safe working conditions across all job sites and office locations.
- Provide regular and timely updates to senior management and executives regarding construction progress and challenges.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in solar and/or storage field operations, preferably at both Distributed Generation (DG) and utility-scale levels.
- At least 5 years of experience leading cross-functional projects and strategic planning efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, or Science); Master's degree preferred.
- Certification or experience in quality or process excellence methodologies is a plus.
- Proven track record of successfully managing teams and creating a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working collaboratively across teams and presenting clear, actionable insights.
