Assistant Transmission Project Manager
The Opportunity:
A regional transmission organization is seeking an Assistant Transmission Project Manager to support real estate and right-of-way activities for electric transmission projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects that enhance grid reliability and serve municipal and cooperative utilities across a multi-state footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Support the acquisition of land and land rights for transmission lines and substations
- Coordinate with planning, engineering, operations, and project management teams to ensure alignment across project phases
- Assist in managing consultants, land agents, appraisers, and legal teams involved in land acquisition
- Participate in siting and routing activities, including stakeholder engagement and public outreach
- Review environmental reports, survey data, and legal documentation related to easements, leases, and land purchases
- Evaluate temporary construction needs such as access roads and laydown areas
- Maintain inventory records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Review and process third-party encroachment requests
- Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective execution of land-related activities
- Collaborate closely with internal departments to ensure successful project delivery
- Travel to project sites and headquarters as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Business, Real Estate, Engineering, Paralegal, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in right-of-way acquisition, land surveying, appraisal, or environmental siting for utility or transportation projects
- Experience managing multiple projects and external consultants
- Ability to interpret legal documents such as easements, deeds, and contracts
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to build rapport with landowners and stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and GIS tools
- Willingness to travel throughout the transmission footprint
- Preference for candidates based in Columbus, OH; hybrid and remote arrangements available
