Business Development Manager - Heavy Civil & Bridge Construction
Salary Range: $130,000-$200,000
Location: Alexandria, Virginia
A leading heavy civil contractor specializing in large‑scale infrastructure and bridge construction is seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive growth throughout the Mid‑Atlantic region. This individual will play a key role in identifying opportunities, developing strategic client relationships, and positioning the company to win major civil and structural projects.
Candidates with a background in project management or estimating-especially within heavy civil, transportation, or bridge construction-are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, agencies, and industry partners to identify upcoming project opportunities.
- Track regional transportation, civil, and bridge RFPs/RFQs and coordinate go/no‑go decisions with executive leadership.
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to strategize on project pursuits and competitive positioning.
- Support proposal development, presentations, pre-bid meetings, and client outreach efforts.
- Maintain an in‑depth understanding of market trends, funding pipelines, and infrastructure programs.
- Represent the company at industry events, association meetings, and networking functions.
- Partner with estimators and project managers to align client expectations with project capabilities.
- Assist with early project planning, value engineering discussions, and preliminary pricing strategy.
Qualifications
- Background in heavy civil, transportation, or bridge construction through project management or estimating (preferred).
- Strong understanding of DOT work, public infrastructure procurement, and design‑bid‑build/design‑build environments.
- Proven ability to build and maintain long‑term client and industry relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of regional market dynamics, major contractors, and upcoming infrastructure programs.
- Experience working with HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam, or similar tools is a plus.
- Degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field is beneficial but not required.
