Overview
A leading consultancy in environmental and infrastructure services is seeking an experienced professional to oversee environmental siting and permitting activities for transmission line projects. This role involves managing field investigations, regulatory documentation, and client coordination across multiple states in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead siting investigations for transmission infrastructure and prepare documentation for regulatory review.
Manage environmental resource assessments and develop permit applications and supporting reports.
Develop project proposals and cost estimates for environmental services.
Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.
Organize and oversee environmental field surveys, including:
Wetland and stream delineations
Threatened and endangered species assessments
Environmental inspections and compliance monitoring
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Provide regular updates and progress reports to internal teams and external partners.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project planning and execution.
Travel to project sites and meetings (approximately 20%, including overnight stays).
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental siting, permitting, or related studies.
Proven experience preparing documentation for state and federal regulatory agencies.
Familiarity with Section 404/401 and Section 10 permitting processes.
Knowledge of state-specific permitting requirements in OH, WV, VA, KY, TN, MD, NJ, or PA.
Strong technical writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in wetland delineation, habitat assessments, and mitigation planning.
Experience with GIS applications and spatial analysis.
Familiarity with ORAM, HHEI/QHEI, and Tennessee Qualified Hydrologic Professional evaluations.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in environmental sciences is a plus.
