Senior Mechanical Engineer - Pump & Pipeline Systems (Mining & Tailings)

About the Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy with a global footprint is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Pump and Pipeline team in Perth. Known for its technical excellence and collaborative culture, this firm delivers high-impact infrastructure projects across mining, water, tailings, and hydropower sectors.
This role offers the chance to work on complex, multidisciplinary projects from concept through to closure, while contributing to a team that values innovation, integrity, and practical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, scope definition, and proposal development
- Coordinate survey and lab testing inputs for design
- Evaluate terrain and infrastructure to determine optimal pipeline routes and configurations
- Develop 3D pipeline models and long-section drawings using Civil 3D or 12d
- Create mechanical, civil, and process design criteria including P&IDs and control philosophies
- Perform hydraulic design and surge analysis using tools like AFT Fathom, Bentley Hammer, and AFT Impulse
- Design pipeline components including thrust blocks, valve stations, and service crossings
- Conduct stress analysis and installation calculations using Bentley AutoPIPE or equivalent
Background & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in pump and pipeline system design
- Eligibility or certification: NER / CPEng / RPEQ
- Familiarity with slurry pipeline design for tailings is a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and hydraulic modeling software
- Experience with CAPEX/OPEX cost estimation
- Valid unrestricted driver's license
