Senior Natural Resources & Compliance Manager

Overview:

We're looking for a highly experienced environmental leader to oversee siting and permitting efforts for electric transmission projects. This role combines strategic oversight, technical leadership, and team development, with a strong focus on regulatory coordination and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead site selection studies and prepare documentation for regulatory review.
  • Oversee environmental investigations and produce permit applications and technical reports.
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables across multiple initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Direct fieldwork including wetland delineations, species surveys, inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  • Drive business development efforts and contribute to proposal writing and cost estimation.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Promote safety and ensure adherence to environmental protocols.
  • Travel as needed to project sites, meetings, and client engagements (approx. 10-20%).

What You Bring:

  • At least 18 years of experience in environmental consulting, permitting, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and complex projects.
  • Expertise in environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Valid driver's license.

Leadership & Management:

  • Translate strategic goals into actionable plans for teams and departments.
  • Guide junior staff in task management, budgeting, and technical execution.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and professional development of team members.
  • Monitor performance, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with organizational standards.
  • Foster a positive work culture that prioritizes well-being and career growth.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Lead meetings and presentations with clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in professional settings and industry events.
  • Maintain regular communication with senior leadership on project status and performance.
