Building Envelope Consultant

An established multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Building Enclosure Consultant to join its growing team. This opportunity offers exposure to a diverse mix of new construction, renovation, restoration, and forensic assessment projects across commercial, institutional, and mixed-use buildings.
The successful candidate will help evaluate building envelope performance, investigate existing conditions, develop repair solutions, and collaborate with architects, contractors, and owners to improve long-term building durability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct building enclosure assessments, condition surveys, and forensic investigations
- Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, façade, and exterior wall systems
- Develop repair recommendations, designs, drawings, and technical specifications
- Perform field reviews, testing, and construction observations
- Assess issues related to air infiltration, moisture management, thermal performance, and energy efficiency
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and design teams throughout project delivery
- Manage projects, schedules, budgets, and client relationships
- Support proposal development and business development initiatives
- Research applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 3-10+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, building science, restoration, diagnostics, or related disciplines
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) preferred
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field
- Experience with building envelope design, assessment, repair, and rehabilitation projects
- Strong understanding of building science principles, moisture management, thermal performance, and sustainability
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with clients and project teams
Preferred Experience
- Exterior wall and façade systems
- Roofing and waterproofing assemblies
- Building performance analysis and modelling
- Construction observation and quality assurance testing
- Existing building investigations and forensic assessments
Technical Skills
Experience with some of the following is beneficial:
- AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, or similar design software
- Building performance and energy modelling tools
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Building enclosure analysis software
