Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (EI) to join its growing team in Longwood, Florida.
This is a professional engineering position intended for recent graduates and early-career engineers seeking to develop their technical skills within a consulting environment. The successful candidate will support the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects while working closely with experienced engineers and project managers.
The role provides hands-on experience across engineering design, project development, permitting, and construction-phase services, offering an excellent foundation for long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with civil engineering design and technical analysis.
- Prepare engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
- Support grading, drainage, stormwater, and utility design efforts.
- Assist with permitting applications and regulatory agency submissions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings and technical discussions.
- Provide engineering support during construction and project implementation.
- Maintain project documentation and quality control standards.
- Utilize Civil 3D and related engineering software to develop project deliverables.
Education & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with civil engineering design and plan production.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, office-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or consulting engineering experience.
- Exposure to municipal, utility, transportation, or public infrastructure projects.
- A strong desire to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and progress within a consulting engineering career path.
