Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Project Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join their growing Milwaukee team. This individual will play a key role in leading the planning, design, and permitting of site development and civil engineering projects while overseeing project teams and mentoring junior staff.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects spanning healthcare, education, industrial, commercial, mixed-use, retail, and institutional developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the planning, design, and permitting of land development and civil engineering projects.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong working relationships.
- Prepare and oversee site design including grading, drainage, utility infrastructure, stormwater management, and erosion control plans.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery within budget and schedule requirements.
- Prepare and review technical reports, feasibility studies, stormwater reports, utility studies, specifications, and proposals.
- Provide technical expertise related to hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, and regulatory compliance.
- Support business development efforts, including client relationship management and identifying new project opportunities.
- Collaborate with office leadership on strategic growth initiatives, project forecasting, and staff development.
- Mentor, coach, and support junior engineers and project staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 6+ years of experience in civil engineering, site development, or land development projects.
- Strong understanding of local, county, and state permitting processes and land development regulations.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
- Experience designing site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management systems from concept through construction.
- Demonstrated success managing projects, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop engineering staff.
- Strong technical knowledge of stormwater management, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, and water quality compliance.
- Experience preparing technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Active involvement in professional organizations is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for project and client meetings.
