About the Opportunity
A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join its Public Infrastructure team.
This position offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to a diverse range of infrastructure and community development projects throughout the region. The successful candidate will work closely with public-sector clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver meaningful projects that enhance local communities.
This role provides a blend of project management, technical engineering, client interaction, and leadership responsibilities, along with a clear path for professional advancement.
Position Overview
The Civil Project Engineer will support the planning, design, and delivery of a variety of public infrastructure projects. Typical project types may include:
- Roadway and transportation improvements
- Water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure
- Public facilities and community assets
- Parks, recreation, and open space improvements
- Capital improvement programmes
- Land development and infrastructure reviews
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while managing project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned public-sector clients and projects.
- Manage multiple engineering projects from planning through construction.
- Develop practical engineering solutions for infrastructure challenges.
- Prepare engineering designs, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Perform grading, drainage, utility, and infrastructure design calculations.
- Develop feasibility studies, cost estimates, and project evaluations.
- Review survey information, mapping, environmental data, and technical reports.
- Conduct engineering studies related to transportation, utilities, drainage, and site development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards and regulations.
- Identify project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide technical presentations when required.
- Review development applications and provide engineering recommendations.
- Support construction phase services, including contractor coordination, submittal reviews, and field support.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
- 5+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Experience delivering infrastructure and public-sector projects.
- Strong client-facing and project management abilities.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel locally as required.
Technical Skills
- Experience with stormwater management and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis.
- Proficiency with civil engineering design software.
- Strong report writing and technical documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
