Role Summary
We're seeking a mid-level engineer with 3-5 years of experience in designing and developing industrial automation systems, ideally within the utilities or infrastructure sector. Responsibilities typically include:
- Evaluating sites to identify control system upgrade needs
- Reviewing technical documentation such as P&IDs and electrical schematics
- Collaborating with clients to understand project requirements
- Preparing technical reports and assessments
- Creating detailed design documents including system layouts and wiring diagrams
- Drafting technical specifications for instrumentation, networking, and control systems
- Conducting quality reviews of engineering deliverables
- Leading or participating in client meetings
- Reviewing contractor submittals
- Coordinating with electrical engineering teams
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess or be eligible for:
- Experience producing construction-ready documentation
- Ability to write technical reports based on field assessments
- Proficiency in reviewing and marking up technical drawings
- Familiarity with motor control and relay logic design
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on development of PLC and HMI systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in Texas
- Designing wide-area communication networks (radio/cellular)
- Specifying fiber optic infrastructure
- Control panel layout and design
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Integration of variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Understanding of cybersecurity in control systems
