Land Development Design Engineeer - ATL
A growing engineering and environmental consulting organization is seeking a Civil Designer to support a variety of solid waste, environmental infrastructure, and site development projects. This role is ideal for a design professional with 2-4 years of experience looking to further develop their technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers and project managers on complex and impactful projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, and development of site infrastructure, grading, drainage, and environmental systems using industry-leading design software and geospatial tools.
Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering drawings, grading plans, construction plans, and technical exhibits.
- Assist with the design and development of earthwork, drainage, stormwater, and environmental infrastructure projects.
- Create and maintain Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, and pipe networks.
- Utilize GIS platforms and mapping tools to support project planning, analysis, and visualization.
- Incorporate survey information, field data, and engineering requirements into project designs.
- Support the preparation of permit drawings, construction documents, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel throughout project delivery.
- Perform design revisions and updates during design and construction phases.
- Maintain drafting standards, quality control procedures, and project documentation.
- Participate in occasional site visits and field investigations.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience in civil design, drafting, or site development projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience producing engineering plans and construction documents.
- Understanding of grading, earthwork, drainage, and site design principles.
- Ability to review and interpret survey information and technical drawings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with ArcGIS or GIS-based mapping software.
- Exposure to environmental, municipal, land development, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with survey data, GPS workflows, or drone-generated mapping.
- Construction-phase support or field experience.
