Position Overview

The Natural Resources & Permitting Manager will oversee environmental permitting and ecological project efforts tied to a broad range of infrastructure and energy initiatives. This position blends project oversight, regulatory expertise, client engagement, and team leadership.
The right candidate will bring a strong understanding of environmental compliance frameworks, hands-on ecological experience, and the ability to guide complex projects while building client relationships and mentoring team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental permitting and natural resources projects from initial planning through project delivery
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams performing fieldwork, ecological studies, and regulatory permitting activities
  • Prepare, review, and manage permit applications, technical reports, and environmental documentation
  • Act as the primary point of contact with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain necessary approvals
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to Clean Water Act Section 404, Rivers & Harbors Act Section 10, ESA, and NHPA requirements
  • Advise clients on regulatory pathways, permitting risks, and compliance strategies
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget across multiple concurrent assignments
  • Contribute to business development through proposal creation, scope development, and client presentations
  • Strengthen existing client relationships while identifying new opportunities, including support of Texas market growth
  • Coach and mentor junior staff while fostering team development
  • Represent the organization through technical publications and industry events

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Ecology, or Environmental/Civil Engineering
  • 7-10+ years of experience in environmental permitting, ecological consulting, or natural resources management
  • Strong familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Field experience conducting wetlands work, habitat evaluations, or ecological assessments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic consulting environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting energy, utilities, renewables, or oil & gas developments
  • Exposure to Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) processes and FERC-related filings
  • Working knowledge of NEPA, stormwater permitting, erosion control practices, and cultural resource considerations
  • Experience leading regulatory coordination or negotiating permitting outcomes
  • Track record contributing to business development and client expansion efforts
