Position Overview

The Pre-Construction team is responsible for evaluating project feasibility, developing accurate cost estimates, optimizing project design for cost efficiency, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in supporting commercial and utility-scale solar projects by preparing detailed estimates, analyzing project costs, evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing, and assisting in the overall bid and budgeting process. This individual will collaborate closely with Engineering, Development, Procurement, and Construction teams to deliver financially viable projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead expenses.
  • Coordinate Requests for Pricing (RFPs) and obtain competitive pricing from EPC contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare comprehensive project budgets and proposals.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Lead estimating efforts from initial project evaluation through project handoff to construction teams.
  • Analyze market trends, historical project data, and pricing benchmarks to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external consultants to assess project feasibility and risk.
  • Support project execution activities by reviewing procurement packages, vendor submissions, and scope compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience within construction, infrastructure, or energy-related projects.
  • Prior experience supporting solar, renewable energy, or utility-scale construction projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction estimating principles, including labor productivity, material pricing, subcontractor management, and risk analysis.
  • Experience utilizing estimating and project controls software such as Bluebeam, Primavera, ProEst, Excel, or similar tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Passion for renewable energy and supporting sustainable infrastructure development.

Compensation: Approximately $130,000 - $165,000 base salary, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
