About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading mechanical contractor in the Raleigh, NC market. This individual will be responsible for overseeing large-scale HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects while providing leadership to project teams and mentoring junior project management staff.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record delivering complex commercial, healthcare, industrial, higher education, and mission-critical projects, with responsibility for project financials, client relationships, and overall execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Manage project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
- Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, manpower plans, and forecasts.
- Maintain overall responsibility for project profitability and financial performance.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and project scope documentation.
- Manage procurement strategies and equipment buyouts.
- Drive project planning, risk management, and execution strategies.
- Review and negotiate change orders, claims, and contract modifications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, and engineering firms.
- Partner with Superintendents to ensure successful field operations and project delivery.
- Monitor project performance through key metrics and provide regular reporting to executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry regulations.
- Support business development efforts and participate in client-facing meetings.
- Mentor and develop junior project management professionals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience within mechanical construction project management.
- Proven experience managing HVAC, plumbing, piping, or design-build construction projects.
- Experience overseeing projects valued at $10M-$50M+.
- Strong understanding of project financial management, scheduling, and cost controls.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience managing client relationships and leading project teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with project management and construction software platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
