Senior Technology Designer
The Opportunity
A multidisciplinary engineering and technology consulting firm is seeking a Senior Technology Designer to lead the design and delivery of low voltage technology systems for complex projects across healthcare, corporate, higher education, retail, and other commercial markets. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role in a growing practice, working directly with clients while managing project teams and overseeing the successful execution of technology designs from concept through construction.
Role Overview
As a Senior Technology Designer, you will serve as both a technical leader and project manager, responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of technology infrastructure systems. You will act as a primary client contact, mentor junior staff, manage project schedules and resources, and ensure projects are delivered with a high level of quality and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of technology systems including structured cabling, voice/data, wireless, CCTV, security and audiovisual systems
- Manage projects throughout planning, design, documentation, and construction administration phases
- Develop system layouts, equipment selections, specifications, construction cost estimates, and design calculations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project execution
- Manage and mentor technology designers and drafters while overseeing project workloads and schedules
- Conduct site visits, review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support field coordination efforts
- Perform quality control reviews and participate in QA/QC processes for projects designed by others
- Assist with proposal development, presentations, and project interviews
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in technology consulting, low voltage design, or engineering consulting environments
- At least 5 years of project leadership and team management experience
- Strong technical expertise in telecommunications, structured cabling, security, wireless, DAS, and AV systems
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating with external stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- RCDD certification
- Experience working on healthcare, higher education, corporate, retail, or commercial facility projects
- Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships
- Strong understanding of construction administration and project delivery processes
