Structural Project Engineer
Overview
A nationally recognized architecture and engineering design firm is seeking a Project Engineer, Structural to support the delivery of complex building projects across a variety of market sectors. This individual will be responsible for leading small to mid-sized projects or serving as a key contributor on large-scale developments from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Delivery
- Lead structural engineering efforts on projects through planning, design, documentation, construction administration, and commissioning.
- Support portions of large-scale building projects while collaborating closely with senior technical staff.
- Prepare structural calculations, analyses, designs, and construction documents.
- Perform site visits, existing condition assessments, and construction observations.
- Participate in project reviews throughout all phases of design.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at a high level of quality.
Project Management
- Assist with project planning, staffing forecasts, budgeting, scheduling, and deliverable coordination.
- Help maintain and improve technical standards, design details, specifications, and BIM/Revit workflows.
- Contribute to quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client & Business Development Support
- Participate in client meetings and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Assist with proposals, fee development, project pursuits, and industry engagement efforts when needed.
- Contribute technical expertise during project pursuits and design competitions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred where applicable.
- Approximately 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience delivering building projects valued between approximately $20M and $80M+.
- Strong understanding of structural design and project delivery.
- Experience working within integrated, multidisciplinary design teams.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- LEED Accreditation or Green Associate designation.
- Experience with architecturally significant, institutional, civic, healthcare, aviation, corporate, commercial, or public-sector projects.
- Experience supporting sustainable and high-performance building projects.
- Experience utilizing advanced structural analysis software.
Technical Skills
- Structural analysis and design for complex building systems.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of building codes and construction documentation.
- Ability to develop practical and creative solutions for challenging design problems.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
