Project Manager / Estimator - Heavy Civil (Bridges & Transportation)

A respected heavy civil contractor in the Denver market is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator with a strong background in highway and bridge construction. This role offers a mix of estimating and project delivery, with exposure to CDOT bridge, culvert, earthwork, and utility projects.
Position Overview
This position is ideal for a hands‑on civil professional who understands both winning work and building it. You'll support preconstruction efforts while also managing projects through construction-working closely with field leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and bid proposals for CDOT highway and bridge projects
- Manage projects from award through closeout, including cost control and scheduling
- Oversee construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and structures
- Support earthwork, grading, and underground utility scopes as needed
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Manage budgets, forecasting, change orders, and contract compliance
- Collaborate with superintendents to align estimates with field execution
- Support value engineering and constructability reviews
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven background with CDOT highway and bridge projects
- Experience with:
- Bridge and structure construction
- Box culverts & drainage structures
- Earthwork & excavation
- Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Strong understanding of construction means & methods
- Experience in estimating, project management, or a hybrid role
- Solid communication, organization, and leadership skills
