About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking a Texas Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice Lead to establish and grow its trenchless rehabilitation presence across Texas. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact practice focused on the rehabilitation and renewal of critical underground infrastructure while leveraging the resources of an established, multidisciplinary engineering organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business development, leading complex rehabilitation projects, mentoring technical staff, and serving as the firm's subject matter expert for trenchless technologies throughout Texas.
Position Summary
The Texas Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice Lead will provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and client development support for utility rehabilitation projects across municipal, water, wastewater, and infrastructure markets.
This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive trenchless rehabilitation experience who is seeking the opportunity to build and lead a growing practice while maintaining involvement in technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership
- Lead the growth and expansion of the Texas Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice.
- Develop strategic plans, revenue goals, and market growth initiatives.
- Establish the firm's presence within the Texas water, wastewater, and underground infrastructure market.
- Collaborate with regional and national leadership to expand service offerings and market reach.
Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, utility districts, public agencies, engineering firms, and contractors.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities throughout Texas.
- Lead proposal preparation, interviews, fee negotiations, and contract execution.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, trade organizations, and networking events.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical lead and Engineer of Record for trenchless rehabilitation projects.
- Direct evaluations, studies, and rehabilitation designs for:
- Gravity sewer systems
- Force mains
- Water transmission and distribution systems
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Utility tunnels and underground structures
- Provide expertise in rehabilitation technologies including:
- Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP)
- Pipe Bursting
- Sliplining
- Spiral Wound Liners
- Spray Applied Liners
- Geopolymer Rehabilitation
- Segmental and Structural Rehabilitation Systems
- Manhole and Vault Rehabilitation
Project Management
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Oversee project delivery, budgets, schedules, and client satisfaction.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews.
- Coordinate construction-phase services and contractor support.
Team Development
- Mentor engineers and project managers.
- Support recruiting and team-building efforts.
- Develop technical standards and best practices across the practice.
- Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant trenchless rehabilitation, underground infrastructure, utility rehabilitation, or water/wastewater engineering experience.
- Demonstrated success leading trenchless rehabilitation projects from planning through construction.
- Strong business development experience with municipal and utility clients.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
Preferred
- 20+ years of industry experience.
- Existing relationships with Texas municipalities, utility districts, water authorities, and public agencies.
- Prior experience building or leading a trenchless rehabilitation practice, department, or business unit.
- NASSCO certifications.
- Experience with large-diameter pipeline rehabilitation programs.
- Expertise in asset management and condition assessment programs.
