Water Resource Engineer - Maryland
Water Resources Engineer (H&H / Stormwater / Drainage)
Maryland | Hybrid Flexibility
I'm working with a long-established, employee-owned civil engineering firm in Maryland looking to bring on a Water Resources Engineer (5+ years experience) to support a strong backlog of drainage, stormwater, and H&H work.
This team has built its reputation over decades delivering transportation and water resources projects across Maryland, and benefits from deep, long-standing relationships with MDOT, MDE, and local agencies. With 90% repeat clients, the work is steady, predictable, and avoids the stop-start nature of heavily bid-driven firms.
What you'll be doing:
- Hydrologic & hydraulic analysis and design for open and closed drainage systems
- Stormwater management (SWM) design, including ESD/BMP facilities
- Preparing pipe profiles, structure schedules, and technical reports
- Supporting SWM & Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) permitting and agency submissions
- Coordinating with roadway, environmental, utilities, and survey teams
- Cost estimates, specs, and direct client coordination
What they're looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in water resources / drainage engineering
- EIT required, Maryland PE preferred
- BS in Civil Engineering (MS a plus)
- Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads
- Familiarity with tools like HEC-RAS, WinTR-20, TR-55, HY-8, ArcGIS
- Experience working with MDE / MDOT permitting and reviews
Why this role stands out:
- Salary: $87,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience)
- 15% 401(k) match - one of the strongest you'll see in the market
- Employee-owned structure with a collaborative, long-tenured team
- Flexible / hybrid working environment
- 90% repeat client base = consistent workload & project stability
- Strong Maryland presence with a steady pipeline of transportation + SWM work
- Clear progression path within a growing, well-respected team
If you're looking for a role where you can own your designs, build long-term client relationships, and be part of a genuinely stable, well-run firm, this is worth a conversation.
