Commissioning Agent
A well-established consulting engineering firm is seeking a Commissioning Agent/Commissioning Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of complex building projects throughout Texas. This position offers the opportunity to work on highly visible projects in the healthcare, aviation, education, and public-sector markets, helping ensure building systems operate as intended from design through occupancy.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commissioning professional who enjoys a mix of office and field responsibilities while remaining primarily based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support commissioning activities for new construction and renovation projects.
- Review construction documents, equipment submittals, and design intent documentation.
- Develop commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures.
- Witness equipment start-up, system testing, and functional performance testing.
- Commission HVAC, building automation/controls, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
- Identify, track, and help resolve system deficiencies through project completion.
- Prepare commissioning reports and communicate findings with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with owners, contractors, architects, and engineers throughout project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience in building commissioning, building systems, facilities engineering, or related consulting environments.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), controls, and electrical systems.
- Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills.
- Professional commissioning certifications such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, or similar are preferred but not required.
Preferred Background
- Experience commissioning healthcare facilities, airports, government facilities, higher education, or other institutional/commercial buildings.
- Candidates with broad building commissioning experience are strongly preferred.
- Individuals whose experience is primarily limited to data center commissioning may not be the best fit for this opportunity.
