About the Opportunity

A growing environmental, health, and safety consulting organization is seeking an experienced EHS Consultant with a strong Industrial Hygiene background to support clients throughout the Bay Area.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of industries including biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, laboratories, technology, and commercial facilities. The role is well suited for an EHS professional who enjoys a blend of fieldwork, client interaction, industrial hygiene assessments, technical problem solving, and regulatory compliance consulting.

Unlike traditional corporate EHS roles, this position provides exposure to a variety of clients, projects, and workplace environments, allowing for continuous professional growth and expansion of technical expertise.


Key Responsibilities

Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health

  • Conduct industrial hygiene assessments and workplace exposure evaluations involving chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Develop and execute exposure monitoring and sampling programs.
  • Perform air monitoring, noise surveys, ventilation assessments, and related industrial hygiene evaluations.
  • Identify workplace risks and recommend practical corrective actions to improve employee health and safety.
  • Analyze field data, sampling results, and compliance information, and prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.

Environmental Health & Safety Consulting

  • Develop, implement, and enhance EHS programs, procedures, and management systems.
  • Conduct facility inspections, compliance audits, and risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance on OSHA, EPA, and California regulatory requirements.
  • Support clients with hazard mitigation, incident prevention, and compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with safety programs such as:
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Fall Protection
    • Hazard Communication
    • Emergency Response
    • Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP)

Client Support & Training

  • Deliver occupational health and safety training programs.
  • Partner with client teams to implement corrective actions and EHS initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by providing onsite technical and regulatory support.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive service and practical problem-solving.

Project & Team Support

  • Coordinate project activities and communicate project status with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support project managers in the successful delivery of EHS and industrial hygiene projects.
  • Assist with proposals, technical documentation, and project planning.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative, safety-focused team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related consulting environment.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, exposure assessments, hazard evaluations, and compliance audits.
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and client priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Bay Area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Environmental, health, and safety consulting experience supporting multiple clients or facilities.
  • Hands-on industrial hygiene sampling and exposure monitoring experience.
  • Experience working within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing, or technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of California OSHA, EPA, and related state regulatory requirements.

Certifications (Preferred or In Progress)

Candidates with the following certifications, or those actively pursuing them, are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP)
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)

Work Environment

  • Combination of client site, office, and remote work depending on project needs.
  • Regular travel throughout the Bay Area.
  • Project work may occur in laboratories, healthcare facilities, biotech environments, manufacturing plants, technology campuses, and commercial facilities.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
  • Occasional work in physically demanding or regulated environments.

Compensation: Approximately $90,000 - $120,000 base salary, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit. Comprehensive benefits package included.
