Low Voltage Departmental Lead
Role Overview
This position provides technical leadership and strategic direction for the firm's low voltage department. The role is accountable for design quality, staff development, business support, and serving as a senior technical authority across a broad range of project types.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Provide senior-level leadership and quality oversight for low voltage and special systems design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Direct and review engineering analyses associated with power interfaces, lighting controls, fire detection and alarm, communications, security, and related low voltage systems.
- Prepare and oversee technical studies, evaluations, and written reports supporting departmental scope.
- Contribute to business development efforts through proposal development, scope definition, and fee strategy for low voltage and special systems work.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor department staff in accordance with company policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving best practices; integrate improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and technical excellence.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, owners, architects, contractors, and project partners.
- Coordinate closely with internal and external engineering disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Provide construction-phase support, including review of submittals, RFIs, change documentation, field observations, and closeout activities.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Preferred Background and Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Active Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification required.
- Professional Engineer licensure in one or more jurisdictions served by the office is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience delivering low voltage engineering across varied project types.
- Prior experience managing projects and leading multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.
