Role Summary
As an Environmental Scientist/Permitting Specialist, you will help guide complex projects through the evolving landscape of environmental regulations-ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and securing timely approvals. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team supporting clients in energy, utilities, and infrastructure, driving projects forward while protecting critical natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate environmental permitting activities with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Develop, prepare, and submit permit applications and all required supporting documentation.
- Conduct field surveys and evaluate technical reports for regulatory compliance.
- Advise clients and internal teams on permitting pathways, risk considerations, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and budgets to ensure on‑time, high‑quality execution.
- Uphold safety, environmental, and quality standards across all project phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental permitting or regulatory compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of regulations related to wetlands, threatened and endangered species, stormwater, and cultural resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior consulting experience supporting energy or infrastructure clients.
- Familiarity with NEPA and state‑level environmental review processes.
- Experience with permitting for renewable energy projects.
