Location: Remote | Company based in Montana
Salary: $120,000-$160,000 base salary
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join a growing environmental and water resources consulting team. This is a fully remote opportunity supporting technically complex groundwater projects across the mining, energy, and oil & gas sectors.
The ideal candidate will bring 12+ years of hydrogeology experience, with a strong background in groundwater flow modeling using MODFLOW. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex groundwater modeling efforts while working within a privately held, employee-owned organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and interpret complex groundwater flow models using MODFLOW
- Lead hydrogeologic investigations and conceptual site model development
- Analyze groundwater flow systems, aquifer characteristics, and groundwater/surface-water interactions
- Support complex projects across the mining, energy, and oil & gas industries
- Evaluate modeling results and translate technical findings into practical recommendations for clients
- Prepare and review technical reports, modeling documentation, and project deliverables
- Provide senior-level technical guidance and quality review on hydrogeology projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary technical teams and clients across a remote work environment
Qualifications
- 12+ years of professional hydrogeology experience
- Significant hands-on experience developing and applying MODFLOW groundwater models
- Professional experience within the mining, energy, and oil & gas sectors
- Strong understanding of groundwater flow, aquifer systems, hydrogeologic characterization, and numerical modeling
- Experience interpreting hydrogeologic datasets and developing defensible conceptual and numerical models
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage technical work in a remote environment
- Groundwater Vistas experience is a plus
- Advanced degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
