Senior Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Raleigh, NC
A well-established heavy civil general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects throughout North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing ground-up bridge construction projects as well as underground utility infrastructure, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and related sitework.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing organization with a strong backlog of transportation and civil construction projects while playing a key leadership role in project delivery and team development.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance
- Lead project teams consisting of Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and field personnel
- Coordinate with owners, DOT representatives, engineers, utility agencies, and subcontractors
- Review contracts, change orders, and project documentation
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining strong client relationships
- Mentor and develop project management staff
- Support business development and preconstruction efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience
- Proven experience managing large-scale ground-up bridge projects
- Strong background in underground utilities, including water, sewer, force main, storm drain, and drainage infrastructure
- Experience managing DOT and public infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated success overseeing projects valued at $20M+ preferred
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills
