Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey operations supporting heavy civil, highway, industrial, medical, technology, and data center projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction staking, topographic surveys, and project layout, with the ability to lead crews safely and efficiently in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily survey field operations.
- Perform construction staking, layout, topographic, as-built, and control surveys.
- Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Establish and verify survey control points and benchmarks.
- Operate GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, levels, and data collectors.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Maintain accurate field notes and survey documentation.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and safety standards are met.
- Train and mentor survey crew members.
- Troubleshoot field issues and support project schedules.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
- Experience on heavy civil construction, highway, industrial, medical, technology, or data center projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction staking and field survey procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, plats, and construction drawings.
- Proficient with modern survey equipment and software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- LSIT certification or pursuit of licensure.
- Experience with machine control and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- UAV/drone survey experience.
- Experience working directly with contractors and project stakeholders.
