Overview
We are working with a client seeking a motivated Roadway Engineer with approximately five years of professional experience to join our Transportation team in Colorado. The successful candidate will support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and civil infrastructure projects across the region. This role is ideal for an engineer who is detail‑oriented, technically strong, and eager to grow within a collaborative consulting environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop roadway geometrics, horizontal/vertical alignments, corridor modeling, and design plans.
  • Prepare construction documents including plan sheets, profiles, cross sections, and design details.
  • Perform engineering analyses such as drainage components, grading design, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Produce PS&E packages, technical reports, and supporting documentation in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, senior engineers, CAD designers, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Conduct occasional field visits to support design development and verify existing conditions.
  • Prepare design exhibits for internal review and stakeholder presentations.
  • Utilize Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and other standard transportation design tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years of progressive experience in roadway or transportation design.
  • EIT certification required; PE license in Colorado or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley design software.
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO and Colorado roadway design standards.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and support several active projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in drainage design, utility coordination, traffic control planning, or construction support.
  • Familiarity with Colorado transportation agency procedures and submittal requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with survey, environmental, and traffic engineering disciplines.
