Job Description
We are seeking a Vice President of Transportation to serve as the strategic face of the transportation practice. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity focused on business development, industry influence, client relationships, and long-term practice growth rather than day-to-day project delivery management.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow transportation planning and engineering services across California.
- Build and strengthen relationships with municipal agencies, transportation authorities, public sector clients, and private developers.
- Lead pursuit strategy for major transportation opportunities, including positioning, teaming, client engagement, and proposal oversight.
- Serve as a senior advisor on transportation market trends, pricing strategy, and pursuit selection.
- Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and key stakeholder meetings.
- Drive strategic growth initiatives that expand market share and enhance industry reputation.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align business development objectives with operational capabilities.
- Support thought leadership efforts through presentations, speaking engagements, industry panels, and other public-facing initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor during critical client challenges and high-profile pursuits.
- Mentor emerging transportation leaders and support long-term succession planning as the practice continues to grow.
Qualifications
- PE or TE license required.
- AICP certification preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation consulting, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated success winning and developing transportation-related work with public agencies and/or private sector clients.
- Strong network within California transportation markets, including agency and municipal relationships.
- Proven experience leading client development, proposal strategy, and major pursuit efforts.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with credibility among clients, agencies, and industry stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring technical professionals and developing future leaders.
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles, including CEQA/NEPA-related analyses.
- Familiarity with transportation analysis tools and industry-standard software preferred.
