Compensation: $100,000-$123,000+ annually, depending on experience, licensure, technical expertise, and location. Additional bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package are available.
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Project Engineer to join its growing Water Resources team. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with 5+ years of experience who enjoys tackling complex flood control, stormwater, drainage, and watershed management challenges while working on impactful public infrastructure projects across California.
In this role, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers to develop innovative, data-driven solutions that improve community resilience, reduce flood risk, and enhance critical water infrastructure.
What You'll Be Working On
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater, watershed, floodplain, and drainage systems
- Flood control facility evaluations and infrastructure improvement studies
- Drainage master planning and watershed management projects
- Flood risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Pump station, channel, culvert, detention basin, and storm drain improvement projects
- FEMA-related flood studies and floodplain analyses
- Climate resilience and sea-level rise adaptation planning
- Capital Improvement Program (CIP) development and prioritization
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and maintain hydrologic and hydraulic models
- Analyze stormwater and flood control systems to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, exhibits, and client presentations
- Utilize GIS tools and geospatial data to support engineering studies
- Coordinate with public agencies, clients, and project stakeholders
- Conduct field investigations and site assessments
- Support preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to successful project delivery
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering
- Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater, and flood management
- Excellent communication, analytical, and technical writing skills
